Gilera Runner 209 ccm Quattro valve

Is there any difference between carburator from 125 and 200; both 4stroke from Gilera Runner?

Thanks 4 answer

Hi carburator is the same on 125 and 200 Leader engine, the difference is only in the maximum jet, the spring of the gas valve and some other minor setting.

Looks very nice.
I am looking forward to hear about some poweroutputs on these engines.

hey velo, looks like your page is been using for all 4stroke big cilinder scooters haha.
how is your gilera running @ the moment?
any nice dynotests done lately?

gr.

it's ALIVE!!!

setup
malossi v4 head
malossi powercam
kubler 278cc kit
dell phf36
malossi vario
malossi sec. gearing
malossi cdi
Unknow open exhaust

first i'm gonna make some kilometres, then @t aprox 500 km oil change + dyno

then it's ready for cruisin'this summer

I like your setup! :7

What was a price for all of this? 1000-1500€?

It seems you are right. This tread has turned out to be the Leader topic of them all +ralf+

I can't tease with any new power testings though, not until it gets a lot warmer I think.

It has been winter for quite a long time. So the engine has been quite still.
But, Yesterday there was a training session on Skærbæk Go-kart track and it went quite well.

I have mountet a 50 mm Bellmouth wich has, again, made powerwheelies easy. A bellmouth of some kind seems to be preferable.
The FG Gubelini Rearshock and allso PMT Slicks where to the test.

And my g**, it performs.
I will need to be familiar with the shock but first impression is very good, smooth and easy ride, but unfortunately, the shock is to long for any stock Piaggio scooter, Maybe it would fit a DNA or a Slider besides the SP. I had to do some work on the engine casing to make mine fit.

Conserning the tyres, they grip very well even from brand new. Fast to ride in.
But, I must admit, grip comes at a prize, even after a little hours of just training, it is possible to see wear on the tyres allready.

Aims for 2010.

What a promising build
Is it hard to kick start?

>2000

head 450
kubler kit 650
powercam 190
cdi 175
vario 115
secondary gears 75
phf36 250
exhaust 200

without assembling kost, like new filters, oils, bearings seals etc....

And it's already broken :'(
the half moon has been broken so the ignition is way wrong, i got flames out of the carburettor

but a new half moon is on the way so hopefully it will arrive fast so i can go around the block

There's a lot of compression, but a couple of good kicks do the job.
But i do have to say electric is much easier, the kickstart is just for emergency

Really nice all these projects!

Does anyone know what the difference is between the original cranckshafts of the leader 200LC/125LC/125AC engines? Maybe the 200 version is stronger?

They require different malossi variators so I suspect they are different at the variator side, but are they also different at the ignition side?

I am asking because i'm planning a rebuild of a 125 AC leader engine into 209cc malossi or 278cc kubler with all the additional stuff like the V4 head etc.

In case I choose the malossi, i could keep my original crackshaft but i don't know whether that is such a good plan with allready 13500 km on the clock...
(And, offcourse the strength of the 125 crack)
I thought about mounting a stock 200 cranck which is quiet a lot cheaper than the malossi cranck. But does my stock ignition fit at this one?
Variator is no problem, I would just order one for the 200 engine...

Thanks in advance, really looking forward to some dyno output from these projects!

the ignition side is the same, i also build a 200cc LC cylinder on a 125cc AC carter.
I have both crankshafts here (125/180cc and 200cc) and the 200cc crankshaft is only a bit longer at the variator side, maybe it's because of the bigger starterpoulie.

The difference in length is because of the starting device.
It is possible to see the size here on these two pictures.

Conserning strength, I realy don't know, but I find it hard to belive that there is any difference except the length of the varioside.

Nice Runner Cri$ch
Did you ditch the Derby or what happened?
And what carb setup are you using.
Stock wallabro?
I am allso looking forward to get my own SBK exhaust, it should be comming in the next couple of weeks. I hope that it performs better than the scorpion.

Thanks for the quick aswers!
Sounds quiet logic that they are all the same concerning the fact that also the engine casings, heads and all those stuff are similar...

I'm still in doubt between the malossi 209 and the kubler set...

Sip offers the cylinder, V4 head and camshaft as a set for little over 800 euro's. Including the modified piston it would come for 900 euro's.

Kubler kit inc V4 and camshaft is well over 1200 euro's and i would also need a 200 fly wheel...

I doubt whether the difference in engine volume would give significantly more power... It will produce more torque, but at lower rpm due to the much larger stroke.
It would not surprise me if both engine setups would have a similar power output due to the difference in rpm. Therefore, im curious to your results

Hi Velo,

i sold the Derbi because it isn´t a scoot for longer rides, i am too large for it

I use the stock keihin carb from a 244cc engine (Beverly 250), don´t need a bigger carb

nice nice chrish

can you measure the diameter of the exhaust @T head side ? when you got it? PLS:$

i'm now riding with a unknow exhaust but this one is a little 2 narrow @t the exhaustport of the head..

So if you don't mind

Mine will be running soon, just called sip and the will send me a new half moon.

i will smoothen up the crankshaft en fly wheel and roughen it a little so it WILL stay in place this time

Just mount it nice and tight. Then it will stick to the crank

My best guess is:
Go for 209 if it is for track and the Kubler if you are aiming for street and city use.

Velo, Need help!

Velo the runner that i was talking about! It is a 125 cc modified engine!
I have mounted on this bastard the follow parts:
- Malossi Cilinder 209 cc
- Malossi Multivar
- Malossi Camshaft
- Malossi sec gear 15/41
- Malossi digitronic
- Tuned stock head with standard valves
- Tuned stock exaust
- Tuned stock carb

I have to tell you that my exaust was completely emptied for all catalizators, my cill head was just polished intake and exaust valves places.
Now i have a standart air filter and a standard carb with bigger jets.
I also have e standard vario because i have destroy my malossi multivar.
I have light rollers (3x8 grams and other 3x12 grams made lighter hand-made with a proxon tool ) - i think they have 8 - 8,5 grams.
I want to ask you about the air filter! You recommand using a stock air filter with red sponge malossi or to buy a sport one?
You recommand using the stock vario or buy a multivar again?
I also have the stock clutch with red malossi springs and white central spring!
You recommand using the stock valves or buy the bigger malossi valves?(if i change the valves and the springs do i feel a increas in power?)
My top speed is 150 at speedometer! My Dino is broken and i can`t tell you HP
He goes in power-wheelye like a mad-ass...but i feel he can do better!
Please HELP me setting-up my runner!I think you are the best that`s why i`m asking for your help! What settup do you recommand? If this "garbage" runner was yours, what settup did you appliy?PLEASE HELP!!
Regarts from Scuter-Centre Bucharest!

ps: WOW SHITTT!!!I CAN`T SHOW YOU THE PICTURES OF MY SCOOTER ... REASON "exeed data...." (((

Go for 209 if it is for track and the Kubler if you are aiming for street and city use.

I thought about that as well, but is the 209 thát unreliable? It is for the street but just for the fun and not really for daily transport or something. Maybe 1000 to 2000 km a year...
