Gilera Runner 209 ccm Quattro valve

Without knowing anything about the SBK.
I would think that the 4 road is the most quiet.
The scorpion has a nice sound without screaming (mine is modified!) And It would fit both.

as ı use both scorpion and leo vince ı think the best sound is from scorpion..u get excited when u drive ur bike with scorpion even though it gives less power compared to leo vince..so ı changed my scorpion and bought leo vince...the sound of leo was low at the instant but when ı tuned my bike to best adjustments there was a smoothiquite and a powerful sound and when u add air filter the sound is impressive but not that much like scorpions sound.scorpion has a very loud noice even on 125cc so think it on 210..besides if u put out the silencer on leo you will see a monster sound so your neighbours and police will be mad anyway ı would select leo because of the power increase..if u choose leo u will not be regretful both because of sound and power..

Why don't you fix a home made exhaust?
there are a lot of people who can make those, and a exhaust specific made for you're setup can give a lot of HP increase.

I thought about an idea.
Since a lot of people on the net browse this thread.

Should we not make a list of possible exhaust for this model of scooter/engine.
Brand, picture, where to buy and a couple of lines about sound and or other verdicts:

My favorite:
Scorpion Stainless
http://www.sip-scootershop.com/EN/Products/20042E00/Racing+exhaust+SCORPION+Gilera.aspx
Looks good, Has a nice deep tone. Adjustable header length (Good for BIG cylinder kits)
Good power on stock engines. Low power an a race engine compared to a full open system.
Good fit.

:-D

This allso exists in a CF version:

Post your pipes

J Costa (known for their variators) also have an exhaust system.

Pictured here is the exhaust for the Master engines, but they are also made for the Leader and Quasar engines, I quess these exhausts would look simular.

The dutch guy that installed the exhaust was suprised by the performance gain, he thought it was only the sound that was better, but he says it performs well two. He also posesses a J Costa variator which he installed earlier.

Hello!

I realy like this topic and I have some questions for u guys.

I'm proud owner of Gilera Runner 200vxr(old shape... up to 2006) and all I have changed about engine is Malossi multivar 2000 and LeoVince 4 Road exhaust. Otherwise I have changed wheels from new shaped runner so I'm now riding on 13 and 14". I'm not sure if top speed will be better with bigger whelles?

Now I'd like to get more power and better top speed from engine. I was wondering if would Malossi big bore(210cc) make any difference instead of my 200cc original cylinder? I was also dreamming about Kubler 278cc kit but is to expensive for me.

So far I was thinking to change camshaft for Malossi one first and then maybe buy malossi digitronic CDI which would give me 11500 rpm and if this wouldn't be enough to satisfy me I would buy secondary gear from Malossi.
I'm asking you what to change first?

I'm nicely asking u guys to answer my questions.

Thanks for answers!
Best regards.

All that my Lady needs is more power and speed =)

Hi welcome to my project/Leader tuning topic.

If you desire greater speed. There is no way round a gear-up kit. No matter if it is a Polini or a Malossi. It is like going from a 4 speed gearbox in a car to a 5 speed box.
Conserning power. I would say it depends on how skilled you are or if you have to pay for it.
I don't think you will gain that much with only 9 ccm. And if the 278 kit is to expensive.
Why not go for the 244? This will need engine rebould! (expensive)

Cam and CDI will open up for higher possible power. But this will make it louder and you will need lighter rollers to tame the power.
But! This mod. can be done with the engine still on the frame and you won't need to pull the head off. cheep.
(Importent, read the instuctions carefully! Turn the engine counter clockvise when removeing the special nylon ring on the de-compressor you don't wan't this to fall into your engine. )

Have fun.
P.S. Your runner looks great!

Cheep 4 stroke tuning trick!
In the carburetter. There is a vacuum throttle.
If you pull this from the carb. removes the needle (To gain access) you can from the venturi side drill a 1½ mm hole in a place where it doesn't disturb screws, needle or other parts of the vacuum throttle.

Reason is:
By making an additional hole. The engine is making a vacuum above the membrane faster thus opening the throttle faster. This will make the engine accelerate faster.

Advise:
*Don't change the size of the hole allready in the vacuum.
By making an other hole. You will be able to close it again if it is too big (The lager the hole, the faster the throttle)

*Don't make the hole larger than the stock hole in the vacuum! If it opens too fast, you will choke the engine with air. (Feels like to lean mixture)

*Be very carefull. You would not wan't to ruin the rubber membrane.
Make a little hole in a pice of paper towel (with a finger fx.) Then put the throttle piston through the little hole. The papertowel will now protect the fine rubber membrane.

I hope this is understandable.
Happy tuning.
Regards Velo.

P.S. Update and cleanup of the project is comming up.

Velo thanks for that quick and helpful answer! But still...

Why did u change secondary gear on your 180cc? Is there any difference between 180 and 200cc secondary gear? Malossi's offering 16/42... do u maybe know what is ratio on original(180-200) gears.
And what do you think about that question: I'm not sure if top speed will be better with bigger wheels 13"-14"?
For now I'm not changing my 72mm bore... I'll just be looking if there would be some crashed nexus 250-300 to buy just engine with electricity... =) Maybe I'll visit some of Italian junkyard and find something to buy cheap there
I'll check price for CDI and cam at local dealer and then decide... How much louder it would be with malossi cam?
About carburettor.. I'll drill the hole if is carb. from 125cc same as 200cc? =)

Thanks for now...

Best regards.

And about exhaust... if I wouldn't bought Runner with Leovince on I would probably buy Mivv X-cone just like Chrisch have on this video:
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e577HS9y3-Y"]YouTube- Gilera Runner VXR 250 MIVV X-Cone Soundcheck[/ame]
Price: ~270€
Chrisch if interested to exchange for LeoVince 4 Road with my additional payment contact me =)

Also in GP version:

Price: ~300€

Unfortunately, I can't tell you the stock ratio. But I changed to different gears because I wan't to be fast!

Lager wheel will make it faster too.
Sounds like a plan about a scrap scooter.

Conserning cam and CDI, I cannot tell you how much or little unfortunately.
But a cam will make it pull better at higher RPM. And the higher the RPM, the more combustion. And the more combustion, the more noise.

Why did u change secondary gear on your 180cc? Is there any difference between 180 and 200cc secondary gear? Malossi's offering 16/42... do u maybe know what is ratio on original(180-200) gears.

There are three types of stock gears:

VXR 180 has: primary 15/46, secondary 14/42
VXR 200 has two types: primary 15/47(15/46), secondary 15/42(15/41)

I believe that you have the second one, because you Runner is from 2006...I think that all Runner's from 2003 have these gears: 15/46-15/41

Hey guys,

do someone of you need a 244ccm Kübler Kit for LEADER engines?

it is complete and with a head & camshaft (quasar), runs only ~800km and is like new

if someone is interested -> send me a PM

Price 550€ (new ~1000€)

Velo track this project already long time, I can say that one of the best I've seen all imas Malossi parts
I am from the Croatian by us has the interesting projects that can be viewed on our forums ...

Polina shock to me you can write the price and website where I can look at POLINI.com not found
Have you had worked INEROTOR or you bought it as a finished product?

We apologize for the grammatical irregularities

Thanks.
I have noticed that there is a lot of link backs to this topic
I hope you guys can get inspiration or even answers.
The shock is originaly made for a Zip SP. (Though I think it is from a quad with just an other spring on)

The reason why I have chosen that shock is because that it seemed to fit my needs. Now only experience will tell wether it is good or bad.
I have had my eyes on the Öhlins but it, unfortnutaly, didn't fit the way I wished.

The innerroter is a test in co operation with www.HPI.be
It is put together with different parts. I think it needs to be better adjusted. It lacks some torque compared to the stock rotor and stator combined with a Malossi digitronic. But it rews a lot faster.
If you mail HPI He would be able to help you with the needed parts.

Maybe I, some time in the future, would try a different ignition system, maybe a Malossi bitbike eprom. This would allow me to adjust max RPM and have an even lighter flywheel. -:-

P.S. Guys.
If you wan't to sell parts. At least ask me first if it is ok with me.

Velo

You will gain speed easier magnet or Inerotorom which is normally a quick spin but will lose the power of what is fast Spin quickly and fit when you come load, Leader 198ccm harder into the okretaje leader 124cccm but when we put the Leader 124ccm cylinder 198ccm No power source leader 198ccm I hope you understand what I mean there is no force enter into force when okretaje larger mass is rotated.
, I am more concerned block bearings (banks) as they will be able to withstand not come to poor lubrication and failure 11000-11500 rpm is enough for this type 4T Masina

hoi guys im looking for a new carb for my 210 runner
i was thinking now with the new malossi head with the larger 25mm intake valves
to go bigger on the carb
maybe a
36mm phf dell orto
37mm cvk carb
35mm mikuni tm

but i like most the Keihin FCR-MX 37mm what you guys think??
