so, the piston isn't chromed, but just polished, it is to avoid carbon deposites due to unfinished combustion

you must polish head cilinder, piston head and exhaust port

carbon deposits can favorise detonation

a thickness of carbon can prevent heat conduction...it's like a thickness of air used in windows construction

and keep in mind, that 2strokes (and even 4strokes) work with heat...it's heat that produce power...cooling too much a motor can occur in a loss of power, hence you have to make a good choice in spark plug range and radiator dimension
