Hello, Has anyone built there own ignition system? Flywheel and pickup,

Its quite interesting that the flywheel from a mini moto fits the MINARELLI engine it will have fixed ignition?

any ideas on how much advance or retard to set?

I will post photos when I have made the brakets.

Hi there,

I have seen it done many times with weed eater ignition systems, but I have never done it myself.

Although this is probably not quite what you're looking for, Mexicano wrote this article. http://www.scooterinvasion.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=86

Want to add a variable CDI to your scooter but don't want to loose your lights and don't want to spend $400.00+ dollars?

here you go...

You have to modify your stator, doing some slots on the base, so you'll be able to "adjust" your initial timing:

Now, buy from scooter-center.com a TP variable CDI, Part No.TP990923 , this is for the Aerox 50 c.c., BW'S 50, etc.

Discard the offset key and adjust your initial timing manually and you are done!, this is a GREAT CDI, you'll note a better performance.

On the BW's 100 (scooter sold in Mexico) there is a difference in the way the kill switch works, the BW'S 100 works in the opposite way.

The Bw's 100 "kill" circuit works opposite the "regular" scooters do, the wire coming from the key switch is "connected" to ground when the key switch is in "ON" position and when the key switch is in the "OFF" position, the circuit is open (No ground), check how your system works on yur bike, if this is your case, you can modify the way this works using a simple relay, you can see the relay enclosed inside the red square, note the red wire, it was originaly comming from the key switch:

The funny thing with this is that there is not technical information from TP on this cdi unit, when I got it, couldn't make it work, I sent them several e-mails and they just answer: This CDI is not for BW'S 100!!!!, but I'm a hard headed and keep my bench research until I found the way to make this work on our scooters!

Hope this helps you too!

Regards,

Cheers!
