BAD CDI?

One of my AC scoots started acting strange lately. It starts first kick, runs great for about 10 minutes...the starts loosing power until it gets so bad im afraid its going to seize..so I shut it down. Basically overheating.

I keep doing plug chops expecting to see a lean situation but the plugs are dark..not grey or white. Ive checked everything..cooling system, leaks..

Im to the conclusion that my CDI is bad....causing my timing to be off which leads to the overheating/power loss.

What do you guys think?

cant see it being to do anything with your CDI, it may be rings are on there way out? reed petal not sealing properally or split reeds? id first of all try a new sparkplug then if it keeps doing it take your cylinder head off look at piston and rings. and then your reeds if you still have no luck then could be a ignition coil? i cant imagning it being hard to find you will just have to look mate
