I am new to the GY6 motor. Seems to me like the cam chain has very little tension on it. I have the screw adjuster type cam chain tensioner. It is on a 150 cc GY6 that is only 2 years old. Is it likely the tensioner is just broken, or is it possible the chain has stretched in that amount of time. Doesn't have many miles on it, but the oil was real dirty.
Just picked it up from a guy and am trying to get it running. Its low on compression. Around 100 psi. It will run but smokes real bad. I am thinking it was just run with real dirty oil and I can replace the piston and rings, hone the cylinder, and lap the valves, put on some new valve seals and call it good.
