hello i just removed my electronic-start assembly and i noticed that the belt in the variator side made a gap making the belt kinda loose (in the resting position). my question is do i need to shim my variator to remove the gap or is it ok to leave it that way?
When I removed my electric start, I just found a washer that was as thick as the one way clutch, and used the washer instead of the gear/starter clutch/whateveryoucallitoverthepond. It's been doing fine with no manner of damage to the crank or anything else for nearly a year now.
If you do put the part back, be sure to take the little metal rollers, springs, and plastic parts out of it. It's not being used anyway, and it's better safe than to have one of them come apart while the engine is running.
