Reinforcing The Varietor

Mexicano

Mexicano
As some of you may remember, my engine has gone......

Now I'm abot to start building the new engine I will use ALL the experience I got from the first two engines I built before....One of the main concerns I have now is: If the new vario is going to be capable of handling the power of this new "baby", so I decide to reinforce it in some way and here is the project, what do you think?

This is a pic of the old vario inner face, you can see ALL the inside gear has gone

I made an special washer from the old starter clutch assy

I made an special arbor to hold the piece and machine it in my lathe, the arbor is part of the old crankshaft

Here is the washer, the arbor and the new vario face

I will weld the washer at the outside diameter (green highlighted) and machine the weldings

A similar trick that I use is to brass weld the security washer (star washer) and the rocket washer (kick start washer) together. I use an old crank during welding to ensure perfect spleen alignment.
It makes life easier on the crank spleens.
