Polini Evo2 Tuning

*james*

Polini Shit Evo
Hi everyone, im from the UK and id like to get your opinions on more tuning, im running the following setup on a gilera runner/ piaggio engine:
Evo2 cylinder
Evo crankshaft
yasuni c21 exhuast
polini speedkit vari
polini speeddrive
vforce3 reedblock [need to order thinner carbon sheet to cut new reeds]
25mm dellorto carb + straight manifold
primary gearup 15/38
secondary gearup 15/39
I think i want to change the gearbox and run only a primary gear... what ratio would you reccomend?
The cylinder has been mildly ported for road use but now i would like to take it even more... to the max [what would you reccomennd i do?... could you recomend any specific tuning that my setup would benefit from? also would it be wise to invest in an inner rotor i.e. HPI?

Regards,
james.

You need an innerrotor on this setup.
The C21 isn´t good on piaggio.
If you spend some time to port and change some parts you can have results of more than 20HP.

Greetings

Hello david, thankyou for the quick reply
What inner rotor would you reccomend?
Which exhaust is good for paiggio with evo2? why isnt yasuni good?

Any tips with the porting? what parts would you change?

Thankyou very much.
James

The Yasuni is good, but there are better exhausts for Piaggio engines, like Malossi.

The Malossi Rotor is one of the better ones. Plug and Play. If you want to keep your lights, you could buy a Polini Rotor, also very nice.

About porting, did you match your enginecase with your cylinder?

Cheers Big B, would you say that it is worth changing exhuasts? is there a big difference between the two?

I would like to keep the lights, but i can run off a battery etc no problem.. so ill go for malossi rotor . The cases was matched to the cylinder, but it wasnt anything too mad because it was a road bike... now im not bothered too much as it will be a weekend bike so i would like to push the cylinder to its limits, is there anything you would reccomend to modify? or change parts wise?

Thankyou again, i really appreciate the help.
James

Nah, if you really wanna go all out, you could change it. Running lights from a battery doesn't work that well. Maybe if you switch to LED lights.

Maybe get a 28mm Keihin carb and a Polini/Malossi Overrange kit.

And if you wanna get really mad, get your cylinder tuned.

Thankyou again for the reply and for clearing my questions up ...

The main idea for the lights was just to get me to a meet i.e. 15mins drive and then back... and i would recharge the battery, but i will still do what you recomended and change to LEDs.
Would a 28mm dellorto carb be as good/roughly same? as i can work with/setup dellorto carbs and have no experiance with keihin, but i will have to learn if needs be . Yeah, i am planning to change the transmission when i get the inner rotor.

Thanks again mate, been a big help.
James.

Keihin carbs can be setup even more exact. You will notice power gain switching to that carb.

T3AM SYK3S NRG BLUE BULLET

hi guys im running a polini evo 2 ported yasuni c21 21mm carb stage 6 crank mhr reedblock flowed cases and matched cylinder the only thing is it revs but no go i really need to mess about with the transmission setup i have polini variator 3gr rollers as the c21 needs light rollers but im thinking what to do with clutch i have secondary gearup kit with torque driver im adding a 106% malossi blue contra spring maybe thiss will help and i might set my clutch up as a slipper clutch aka progressive clutch any input from others is welcome
thanks

Hi, i have a similar setup to you apart from yasuni c30 exhaust. my bike wouldnt go. this was because my clutch was engaging too quick and also my bike was running too rich. good luck. i simply made it leaner and got tighter cluct springs and works O.K.
