Piaggio typhoon won't start, out of gas

After riding my typhoon a couple weeks ago, I noticed there was a slow gas leak coming from the filter. I let it sit for a couple weeks and the little remaining had drained out. I went to start it up to take it in for service, filled the tank with a little gas, and it won't turn over. The battery is charged and the starter turns, but no ignition.

Any ideas on how to get it started?

Have you checked if you get a spark? What is the color of the sparkplug?
