piaggio typhoon 125 help needed?!

i've just bought a non-runner 125 typhoon 51plate that's been stood for around 8 months. i've put a new plug in and ordered a new battery. i've tried jump starting it from a car battery and it turns over but won't fire up. i dripped some petrol where the spark plug goes and it started for a second off the kick. the carb seems to be bone dry though. this might seem like a stupid question, but is there any way i can get fuel into the carb or will it start flowing when i fit the new battery and start it with the ignition? i know there's a drain-pipe on the bottom of the carb but it seems like a nightmare to get to... please help!

No won't make any difference. Just kick it for a while or try to use some startspray.

I think you should clean the carbaretor.
