On the previously mentioned Vento GT5, I am wanting to derestrict the CDI. Can I do it without buying a new one, by doing something with the wiring? Thanks again.

Your CDI can't be de-restricted, no way to do that...any ways the stock CDI is good up to 8,000 r.p.m's......

What kind of mods do you have in your engine?

Regards,

No engine mods yet, it isn't even really broke in yet at 275 miles. I did take out all that foam blocking the intake ports in the air box. I also ran some radiator hose off the one port, and down to the front where the cooling slots are, that way air gets forced in to he air box. Seems to work pretty good so far.

For my Honda the stock cdi has a metal wire protruding out the cdi then turning back into the cdi housing with a rubber cap.. i brought my bike second hand with it broken but i was told with it still intact it limits the bike to do 60kph.

Dont derestrict it yet unless you want a pile-o-scooter.Wait till you get at least 500 miles and at least 10 more startup cycles. Then take out the restrictors(may be a few diferent ones).I can get you a racing cdi for cheaper than anywhere else,if its a mineralli cost is $50 for a 5 wire yamaha clone(china)a malossi unit will run about $90.If its a gy6 you have a few different options, cheapest being around $20.lmk

Should I not have takenout the foam in the air box? I needed to adjust the mixture in the carb a little because of the extra air. Should I hold back until I have more mileage on it? I am at 360 miles right now. So folks don't need to check my other post, I have a 2007 Vento Phantom 150cc. Thanks for the help.
